Research around the idea of cloth applied to a monolith of concrete. Fabrice Le Nezet worked at transposing concepts and patterns on those abstract figures led by a sculpture approach. The result is this collection of very fashionable totems half way between sculpture and fashion design.
I had to think about the concept of clothes take away from their original context, which means without having to take into account mechanical constraints, heat capacity and practical use. I focused on the visual aspect of clothes, creating interesting silhouettes and graphical rhythms. The actual shape of this monolith being rather minimalist, the volume variations had to come from the design of the clothes itself. Some models are covering the concrete piece in a common way where as others are more like an extra taking their inspirations from accessories or jewelries. I worked on structuring surfaces by using a combination of fabrics featuring various qualities and colors, borrowing codes from different spirits and styles. At a sub-level, patterns and repeated elements were use to create visual rhythms and sequences.
